Dr. Clint Ferenz was an intercollegiate pitcher on the Hofstra University baseball team, being positioned as the “ace” for four years. Upon graduation, he turned down try-outs for major league baseball in order to pursue his medical education. He attended SUNY-Downstate/Kings County Hospital Medical School in Brooklyn, New York, and then remained there for four more years while completing an Orthopaedic Surgical Residency. He obtained a wide array of training at Kings County, which is the third-largest city hospital in the U.S. This included: trauma; joint replacements; spine, sports medicine; hand surgery; and non-surgical orthopaedic medicine.
After graduating, Dr. Ferenz completed the Tufts-New England Medical Center fellowship in Boston, specializing in Hand and Microsurgery. He trained with world-renowned experts such as Edward Nalebuff and Lewis Millender. The fellowship included coverage for Boston’s professional sports teams.
After a year of private practice in Miami, Dr. Ferenz, along with Dr. John Tozzi, was the founder of a new orthopaedic practice that is now the OIBO. The practice has grown from two original physicians into what it is today. Dr. Ferenz has treated all orthopaedic injuries but has specialized his surgical practice to include the hand and elbow. He treats traumatic injuries including those that are work-related; sports-related injuries; sprains and strains; tendon and nerve injuries; tumors and masses; joint injuries requiring reconstruction; and nerve compression injuries, among others. He has developed an attitude of treating most injuries in a conservative fashion while attempting to leave surgery as the last choice. He now has over 30 years of experience in private practice.
In addition to his medical training, Dr. Ferenz has participated in the M.B.A. program at Northeastern University in Boston. He has also graduated from Seton Hall School of Law (Newark, N.J.) with a Masters of Science in Jurisprudence (M.S.J.) while specializing in Healthcare Law. Additionally, he has been certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners as a Board-Certified, Certified Independent Medical Examiner (C.I.M.E.).
Dr. Ferenz has utilized the special qualities above in the field of Medical-Legal actions. These include IMEs; medical malpractice; third-party suits; PIP cases; workman’s compensation; and case reviews. He will represent plaintiffs and defendants as a medical expert. He provides a breadth of knowledge and experience while maintaining honest and ethical opinions. His rare and unique training allows him to provide the expert opinion of a surgical Orthopaedist while being able to appreciate and understand the legal system and the effects of precedent; standing; dispositive fact patterns; admissibility of evidence; and apportionment and remedy. This training and thought process provides for an ideal medical expert.
In any of these situations, be it surgical or legal, Dr. Ferenz always looks to put the individual first and consider the best interests of his patients.
