Dr. Steven Mennona is a board certified, dual fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in total joint replacement and orthopaedic traumatology. Dr. Mennona treats degenerative joint disease requiring primary joint replacement as well as existing joint pathology requiring revision surgery.  His expertise also includes complex, periarticular, and periprosthetic fracture treatment.  Dr. Mennona has extensive training in the most recent technology for joint replacement surgery, including computer navigation with Intellijoint Surgical and robotic assisted surgery on state of the art platforms, including MAKO, CORI, and ROSA robots.

Dr. Mennona’s interests include primary, minimally invasive total hip and knee replacement, robotic and navigated joint replacement surgery, partial knee replacement, revision joint replacement surgery, complex fracture care, and periprosthetic fracture.  Patient care is of the utmost priority to Dr. Mennona, with emphasis on restoration of function, early mobilization, multi-modal pain control, interdisciplinary care, and optimal communication.  He believes it is of the utmost importance to treat each patient with an individualized plan that addresses their specific needs.

Dr. Mennona is a native of New Jersey and is proud to have been raised in Monmouth and Ocean County. He grew up in Howell Township and attended Christian Brothers Academy for high school.  His extra-curricular interests include training in and teaching martial arts, in which he currently holds the rank of 4th Degree Master Black Belt.  Dr. Mennona is an avid runner, enjoys fitness and sports, and spends his free time with his family and loved ones.

Training and Education:

Dr. Mennona attended Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson for medical school where he graduated with a Distinction in Medical Education and multiple academic honors. He completed his Orthopaedic Residency at Robert Wood Johnson where he was named Chief Orthopaedic Resident his final year and graduated with “Resident of the Year” award. He also worked as an assistant team physician for Rutgers Football under Dr. Charles Gatt during the 2019 season. He then completed a fellowship in orthopaedic traumatology at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center under Dr. Benjamin Taylor, one of the busiest trauma centers in the United States. He then completed a second fellowship under Dr. William Macaulay in complex adult reconstruction at NYU medical center, recently ranked by US NEWS as one of the top orthopaedic institutions in the country. Dr. Mennona has authored numerous publications in the fields of Orthopaedic Trauma and Adult Reconstruction, including scholarly articles, book chapters, and instructional videos.
