For more than 25 years, Dr. Michael Lospinuso has been devoted to the field of Orthopaedic Spine Surgery. Although he is a medical staff president and chief of spine surgery at Jersey Shore Medical Center, and a trustee on the board of directors for the newly formed Hackensack Meridian Health Network, this Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon remains passionate about providing hands-on care through his private practices in Monmouth and Ocean counties: Orthopaedic Spine Institute and Orthopaedic Institute Brielle Orthopaedics.
Dr. Lospinuso was Fellowship Trained in Spine Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Cornell University Medical College, achieving expertise in cervical and low back spine surgery and minimally invasive spine fusion, decompression and fixation procedures. “I’m excited to expand on the surgical legacy I’ve built over the years and channel my clinical knowledge into administrative roles that allow me to change lives on an even broader scale,” he says. “Every patient deserves a high quality, safe outcome.”

How This Award Is Determined
Each year Leflein Associates mails a questionnaire to every doctor licensed in New Jersey for at least five years. Each of the doctors was asked to vote for physicians he or she would choose to treat him or herself or a family member. Leflein tallied the votes and provided the preliminary results to New Jersey Monthly.
Next, New Jersey Monthly asked a blue-ribbon advisory board of New Jersey doctors to examine the preliminary results for possible additions or deletions, with special attention to physicians in their respective fields of practice or regions of the state. The 25 board members were picked by New Jersey Monthly from among top vote getters in previous surveys. Doctors are chosen for the board based on a consistently high level of votes over previous surveys in their respective specialties.
